Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan is seeking a dedicated support worker to help individuals participate in activities and develop life skills, guided by individualized plans.

You will provide one-on-one coaching, document progress, assist with daily activities and transportation, uphold safety and CARF standards, and collaborate with families, guardians, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire; training provided in-house.
  • Acceptable driving record and valid chauffeur's license.
  • Cell phone required.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one support to help individuals build interpersonal and other life skills as outlined in each person's PCP or individualized employment plan.

Job Summary

Essential Functions

1. Provides one-on-one support to help individuals build interpersonal and other life skills

as outlined in each person's PCP or individualized employment plan.

  1. Maintains documentation of individual activities and submits reports to appropriate Workforce

Development staff.

  1. Reports weekly to the Workforce Manager on the progress of assigned individuals receiving

services.

  1. Assists Goodwill Industries in maintaining positive relationships with families, guardians, and

community partners.

  1. Follows and implements all applicable safety laws, regulations, and policies to ensure the

safety of individuals in the program, Goodwill staff, transportation services, and community

activities.

6. Completes accident reports, unusual occurrence reports, and/or CMH incident reports immediately.

  1. Assists with planning and implementing daily activities.
  2. Provides personal care for some participants.
  3. Transports participants on outings using Goodwill vehicles.
  4. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Workforce Manager.
Education and/or Experience

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience working with individuals with disabilities is helpful. The incumbent must: Obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire; training is provided in-house.

  • Have an acceptable driving record.
  • Have or be able to obtain a valid chauffeur's license.
  • Have a cell phone.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds.

  9. Carries out additional duties as assigned by the store manager or Director of Retail.
  10. Maintains safety standards within areas of responsibility.
  11. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork.
  12. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  13. Performs all other duties as assigned and trained.
