Job summary

Citizen Advocates, Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Assistant to work with clients in a community setting. You will support the Direct Support Professional by engaging clients in leisure activities, assisting with light grooming, and helping with simple tasks to promote comfort and participation.

This role emphasizes confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate interaction. You will work Monday through Friday, 3 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred (working papers accepted).
• Must follow hand washing protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Direct Support Professional by interacting with clients during leisure time.
• Assist clients with recreation and simple activities.
• Interact with clients and staff in a positive, friendly manner.
• Assist with light grooming activities such as hair brushing and nail painting.
• Assist with light laundry and small housekeeping tasks.
• Bring supplies to needed staff and report problems to supervision.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:A Direct Support Assistant must be able to interact in a positive, friendly, and respectful manner with clients. Must be able to encourage clients to participate in simple recreational activities such as art activities, listening to music, and watching television.
