Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant I to provide direct patient care under the direction of a qualified Physical Therapist upon physician referral. The role supports a comprehensive range of patients across age groups, with emphasis on accurate body mechanics and safe patient handling.

The successful candidate will maintain BLS certification, pursue California PTA licensure if eligible, and keep licensure current during employment.

Qualifications

• Must maintain current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• For candidates eligible to take the California state examination for Physical Therapist Assistant Licensure, employment is contingent on passing the exam.
• Must maintain a current California Physical Therapist Assistant License during employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Utilize correct body mechanics in patient handling and mobilization.
• Support treatment planning and documentation as directed by the PT.
