Job summary

Pima Council on Aging seeks Direct Care Workers to support older adults and individuals with disabilities in their homes, including personal care, light housekeeping, meal help, and companionship. The role involves frequent travel between clients and reporting to the PimaCare at Home Supervisor.

Entry level position, no formal experience required; AZ fingerprint and background clearances, First Aid/CPR, and TB test are required prior to hire.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Less than a High School diploma or GED.
• No experience required; at least six months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travels to the client's home to provide care and support.
• Assists with dressing, bathing and basic hygiene tasks.
• Aids mobility and transfers around the home.
• Reminds clients to take prescribed medications.
• Plans and prepares meals per dietary directions.
• Light housekeeping and errands to grocery, laundromat, etc.
• Provides companionship and signals any changes to supervisor.
• Uses virtual platforms to communicate and report.

Direct Care Workers# Direct Care WorkersHot JobFully Remote • Tucson, AZ 85716## OverviewSalary Range$16.00 HourlyLevelEntry## Description**Purpose:** This position supports the needs of older adults and developmentally or physically disabled individuals in their home with personal care, light housekeeping, meal assistance, shopping, and companion care.**Reports To:** PimaCare at Home Supervisor**Category:** Variable Hour, Non-exempt, Hourly**Schedule, Post of Duty, & Travel Requirements:*** Varies depending on need of the position* This position is located remotely.* Frequent travel is required between clients' homes and PCOA locations.**Major Duties & Responsibilities:*** Travels to the client's home via reliable personal or public transportation.* Assists individuals in dressing, bathing, and completing basic hygiene tasks.* Helps individuals move from room to room around their homes.* Reminds individuals take their prescribed medications.* Plans and cooks meals following the specific client's diet as directed.* Assists with light cleaning and housework.* Runs errands to the grocery store, laundromat, cleaners, drugstore, and other necessary locations.* Communicates with the supervisor and reports any changes or updates regarding the client.* Serves as a companion for individuals who live alone.**Essential Functions:*** Completes all assigned tasks with an emphasis on quality and timeliness.* Complies with clock-in and clock-out company procedures in HHA and maintains effective communication with office staff.* Ensures that work adheres to local, state, and federal governmental regulations, and other applicable rules and mandatory requirements.* Attends and actively collaborates with others at all scheduled meetings and trainings.* Builds and maintains a cooperative working relationship with others.* Uses virtual collaboration platforms to perform work as necessary (e.g. Zoom or Teams).## Qualifications**Qualifications:**An equivalent combination of education and experience related to the position may be considered.* Less than a High School diploma or GED.* No experience required; at least six (6) months is preferred.**Additional Qualifications:*** Must have reliable transportation.* Must successfully obtain and maintain AZ Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance card and Central Registry background clearance.* First Aid/CPR certification required prior to hire.* A TB test is required prior to hire.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Knowledge and skill in personal care and basic housekeeping activities.* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Pima Council on Aging and its family of non-profit companies.* Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion.* Ability to effectively communicate with, receive information from, and convey information to others.* Ability to professionally represent the organization and work harmoniously with diverse populations, including staff, clients, and providers.* Ability to think quickly and act calmly under stressful situations.**Physical & Environmental Factors:*** The working environment requires frequent travel to and working in client homes or residential sites, which may encounter unsanitary conditions and a diversity of living styles.* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and occasionally climb or balance, squat, stoop, twist, turn, push, pull, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.* This position frequently must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.* Hearing requirements include the ability to listen and respond appropriately to conversations in person, virtually, and over the phone.PCOA reserves the right to modify and interpret this position description.
