Job summary

Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA) in Alpena, MI is hiring a Direct Care Worker/Residential Training Worker (PT) to support individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs in residential and community settings.

You will assist with daily living tasks, provide transportation, help with medication documentation, and participate in plan-based activities. A high school diploma is preferred; a valid Michigan driver’s license and being 18+ are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health issues helpful.
• Lived experience with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use valued.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in daily living tasks such as laundry, meal prep, and shopping.
• Provide transportation in agency-owned vehicles.
• Assist with medication distribution and documentation.
• Facilitate individual and small group activities based on treatment plans.
• Participate in team meetings and person-centered planning.
• Maintain accurate records, including progress notes and incident reports.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and consistent living environment.
• Practice trauma-informed care.
