Job summary

NeMCMHA in Alpena is seeking caring Direct Care Worker/Residential Training Worker (RTW) to support individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs in both group homes and community settings.

This part-time, non-exempt role offers a $18.09 hourly wage, paid training, benefits package, and opportunities to participate in person-centered planning, documentation, and trauma-informed care. You will enable independence, dignity, and meaningful daily routines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health issues is helpful.
• Lived experience with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks (laundry, meal prep, groceries).
• Provide transportation in agency-owned vehicles.
• Assist with medication distribution and documentation.
• Facilitate individual and small group activities per treatment plans.
• Participate in team meetings and person-centered planning.
• Maintain accurate records and incident reports.
• Create a safe, welcoming living environment; apply trauma-informed care.
