Job summary

AbaCares Services is seeking compassionate Direct Care Workers to join our team. We provide essential support in clients' homes, including personal care, companionship, homemaking, and respite services.

Location: Harrisburg, PA. Schedule: Mon/Wed/Fri 8:00 AM–2:30 PM. Approved weekly hours: 20.05. Equal opportunity employer and ongoing training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Previous caregiving experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, write, and follow care plans.
• Background checks and clearances must be obtained.
• CNA certification is helpful but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal assistance and care to clients, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist with homemaking tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities.
• Document care provided and maintain accurate client records.

Services include personal assistance, companionship, homemaking, and respite care.

Approved Weekly Hours: 20.05

Schedule:

Monday Wed Friday 8AM-2:30PM

SCOPE: meal prep, getting up in bed in the morning, uses a walker, minor mobility assistance

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal assistance and care to clients, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist with homemaking tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities.
• Ensure clients' safety and well-being by monitoring their condition and reporting any changes.
• Follow care plans and service plans tailored to individual client needs.
• Document care provided and maintain accurate client records.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a caregiving or direct care role is preferred.
• Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
• Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
• Sympathetic attitude towards the care of the sick and elderly.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass a background screening and obtain required clearances.
• CNA preferred but not required
