Job summary

New Horizons in Santa Ana, TX is seeking a Direct Care Staff to support the emotional, social, and cognitive development of children in a residential treatment environment. You will work directly with children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or behavioral health challenges, providing structured, nurturing, and therapeutic care.

You will follow the Philosophy of Keeping Kids First, participate in treatment planning, and help with daily routines, safety checks, and communication

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional education in child development, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with children, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Must pass background check, drug screening, TB screening as required by standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment prioritizing physical and emotional well-being of each child.
• Provide supervision based on individual needs, risk factors, age, and development level.
• Intervene to prevent unsafe behaviors and maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Assist children with personal care and hygiene while promoting self-care skills.
• Actively participate in treatment planning and team meetings with observations and input.
