Job summary

Sentara Medical Group in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Direct Care Registered Nurse-Endoscopy to join our Endoscopy Unit. The RN will perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for GI, pulmonary, and ENT cases in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires an RN license for VA or a multi-state compact, BLS; ACLS after 90 days of hire, and clinical endoscopy experience is preferred. Salary is complemented by an up to $10,000 sign-on bonus and a day shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-call rotation (6–8 shifts/month, including at least one weekend)

Endoscopy Unit Schedule: Full-Time, Days 4 days (Monday–Friday, 0730–1700) Call Requirements: 1-2 Weekday call shift 1700-0700 & 1 weekend a month

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Endoscopy Unit. This position involves comprehensive patient care across the continuum—pre-operative assessment, intra-procedure assistance, and post-procedure recovery for a variety of outpatient and inpatient procedures. The Endoscopy RN plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients undergoing procedures in pulmonary, gastroenterology, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialties.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and preparations for endoscopic procedures

The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of patient care, including conducting thorough assessments, designing and implementing personalized care plans, administering medications and treatments, and evaluating patient responses to interventions. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity throughout the treatment process.

In this role, you will educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health. You will monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient conditions, and respond promptly with appropriate interventions. Utilizing sound clinical judgment, you will address complex health situations, consult with medical team members as needed, and document all care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Education

• Diploma RN/ADN/BSN/MSN

Certification/Licensure

• RN License - Virginia/Compact/Multistate
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS required after 90 days of hire

Experience

• Clinical experience preferred
