Job summary

Sunrise Children’s Services in Springfield (Residential Treatment) is seeking a Direct Care Counselor for 2nd shift to support children in need. This full-time role involves direct care, supervision, and contributing to a therapeutic environment under supervision of licensed staff.

Applicants must be 21+, pass background checks and a drug test, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. A Driver’s license is required for transportation responsibilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision per agency policies, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
• Create a therapeutic environment and assist with implementing the client’s treatment plan.
• Exhibit professionalism and positive role modeling for clients and staff.
• Promote health care protocols including medication administration as designated by the program nurse.
• Ensure clients’ needs for clothing, nutrition, hygiene, rest and recreation are met daily.
• Identify risk factors and take measures to reduce those risks.
• Create a safe, secure and sanitary environment.
• Observe and address client behavior.
• Maintain client health information confidentiality in line with HIPAA.

Job Duties include, but not limited to:

• Providing direct provision of care and supervision to clients according to agency policies and procedures, licensing and accreditation requirements.
• Creating a therapeutic environment to provide appropriate care to our clients. Functioning as a part of the treatment team and helps implement the client’s treatment plan
• Exhibiting professionalism and positive role modeling for clients, peers and outside groups/visitors.
• Promoting health care protocols to included medication administration and other medical tasks as designated by the program nurse.
• Ensuring that the client’s needs for clothing, nutrition, hygiene, rest and recreation are met on a daily basis.
• Identifying potential risk factors (in a program environment) and taking measures to reduce those risks.
• Creating a safe, secure and sanitary environment.
• Observing, defining and addressing client behavior.
• Maintaining confidentiality of client’s protected health information and complies with the HIPAA privacy rule.
• Ensuring own professional growth and development.
• Completes all required documentation and paperwork according to agency standards and requirements.
• Providing transportation to clients in care.
