Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Director to lead rapid response laboratories across multiple sites in the Southeast region. You will ensure high-quality service, meet regulatory requirements, and drive operational and financial targets.

You will manage managers and supervisors, develop staff, and collaborate with executives and vendors to expand capabilities and improve turnaround times while maintaining a safe, compliant lab environment.

Qualifications

• Eight years of leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, HIPAA regulations.
• Experience overseeing multiple sites and driving metrics.

Job Description

Responsible for multiple rapid response type laboratories across multiple geographical locations including (Rapid Response Laboratory (RRL) / Client Rapid Laboratory (CRL) / Purchase Service Agreement (PSA) / Purchase Testing Service Agreement (PTSA)). The Lab Director will be responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality service to meet technical and quality requirements as well as operational and financial targets. This position must be located in the region and will work remotely with significant travel to the individual site locations in the Southeast Region (VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN and AL).

Responsibilities

• Directs the managers / supervisors of the rapid response type labs described above. Key performance indicators / metrics such as: Employees / Quality / Delivery / Costs (Employees: Engagement / Retention / Turnover / Safety) / (Quality: Test not performed/ Lab Mishandles / CAP Proficiency / Training / Audit Outcomes) / (Delivery: Turn Around Time) / (Costs: Productivity / Efficiency / Cost Reduction Projects).
• Directs and coordinates laboratory activities to ensure that services are provided on schedule with quality, service and financial objectives.
• Supervises manager and supervisors of regional rapid response laboratories.
• Ensures that all laboratory activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.
• Acts as onsite leader for the facility ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment.
• Develops and trains personnel within the laboratory and reviews and appraises their performance.
• Establishes laboratory organization, plan and delegate responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities for performance.
• Work closely with key functional leaders on critical tactical as well as strategic type issues including new business developments and other growth related initiatives.
• Creates and evaluates new procedures and equipment for potential use in the laboratory and recommends new procedures and equipment where necessary.
• Directs, coordinates, and oversees major unit projects to the best economic advantage of the organization including footprint utilization.
• Leads by example in effectively demonstrating Our New Behaviors and the Leading Quest Competencies; fosters an environment that demonstrates a commitment to performance excellence and employee engagement.
• Collaborates with internal (corporate, regional and local functional leaders) and external resources (vendors, contractors) to ensure consistent delivery of quality services and continuous quality improvement.
• Maintains local market knowledge of competitor service offerings and make recommendations to improve our service.
• Partners with commercial group to visits new and existing clients regularly to understand their requirements and explain how we can provide the expected support; provide insights

Required Work Experience

• Eight years professional experience in leadership role in a laboratory leadership role
