Job summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles is seeking a Director of Operations to lead end-to-end GSE manufacturing with focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance. You will drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives, capital planning, and modernization while partnering with cross-functional teams to enable profitable growth.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years in manufacturing/operations management, with SAP/ERP experience and Lean manufacturing proficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in manufacturing or operations management.
• Experience with SAP and ERP systems; Inventory Management experience.
• Lean Manufacturing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Operations strategy aligned with business objectives and high-quality performance across the organization.
• Direct end-to-end manufacturing operations with safety, quality, production execution, labor productivity, inventory performance, and cost management.
• Drive Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvements to enhance efficiency, capacity, productivity and quality while meeting delivery and cost targets.
• Plan and execute Capital Expenditure and Long-Range Planning initiatives shaping manufacturing operations and new product introductions.
• Support manufacturing modernization through advanced technologies and process improvements.
• Champion safety, compliance, and risk mitigation across operations and manufacturing functions.
• Manage budgeting, cost control, resource planning, and continuous improvements delivering year-over-year savings.
• Lead vendor and contract management to ensure performance and optimization of key service agreements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives and growth.
• Foster talent development through mentoring, objective management, and onboarding of new hires.

Responsibilities

• Lead Operations strategy, aligning priorities with business objectives and ensuring reliable, high-quality operational performance across the organization.
• Direct end-to-end GSE manufacturing operations with full accountability for safety, quality, production execution, labor productivity, inventory performance, and cost management
• Develop and implement strategic operational initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency, expand production capacity, drive Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvements, improve productivity and quality, and support profitable growth while ensuring achievement of customer delivery, cost and business performance objectives.
• Develop and execute Capital Expenditure and Long-Range Planning initiatives supporting manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, insourcing strategies, and new product introductions.
• Support manufacturing modernization initiatives through the implementation of advanced technologies, process improvements, and operational best practices.
• Champion safety, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts across operations and manufacturing functions.
• Manage financial performance through budgeting, cost control, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver year-over-year cost savings.
• Lead vendor and contract management activities to ensure performance, accountability, and optimization of key operational service agreements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives, operational efficiency, and organizational growth.
• Foster talent development by supporting career path planning, management of performance objectives, engagement, training, and onboarding of new hires.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
Years of Experience: 10 or more years in manufacturing or operations management required.

Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office Applications, (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning experience required; SAP, Inventory Management System experience required.
Additional Requirements: Experience in Lean Manufacturing required.
