Job summary

Williams in Houston seeks a Director of Commercial Services to drive a market-oriented, customer-driven strategy and enhance revenue opportunities across our energy services portfolio. The role requires a ten-year energy background and a track record of closing complex commercial transactions.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, collaborate with leadership, and shape tariff provisions while aligning with corporate objectives and growth plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of energy industry experience.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with all leadership levels.
  • Experience negotiating and closing sophisticated commercial transactions.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains positive business relationships with buying influences and ensures outstanding service.
  • Identifies expansion, growth and new service opportunities.
  • Negotiates sophisticated commercial arrangements and tariff provisions.
  • Represents Williams’ interests related to capacity expenditures.
  • Leads multi-discipline team and coordinates workforce planning.
  • Develops an efficient commercial system to help customers acquire capacity, schedule, bill.

The Director of Commercial Services is responsible for developing a market orientated and customer driven strategy aimed at enhancing revenue opportunities in an assigned market area that aligns with our objectives. Responsibilities/Expectations
  • Establishes and maintains positive business relationships with buying influences of potential customers and ensures existing customers receive outstanding service using a “single point of service” business model
  • Identifies expansion, growth and new service opportunities
  • Negotiates sophisticated commercial arrangements and changes to business practices and tariff provisions
  • Represents the interests of Williams and our customers associated with capacity expenditures relating to interconnecting facilities
  • Develops an efficient commercial system to assist customers in acquiring new or releasing existing capacity, scheduling capacity, handling imbalances and obtaining billing and volume statements
  • Uses existing geography footprint and asset infrastructure to grow business opportunities that build sustained value
  • Acts as an industry leader to push favorable policies; develops tariff recommendations to support new services and/or improve existing services
  • Leads multi-discipline team consisting of managers and employees
  • Coordinates workforce planning and career development activities for direct employees
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field; minimum of ten (10) years' energy experience

Preferred: Master’s degree

Other Requirements
  • Extensive experience negotiating and closing sophisticated commercial transactions
  • Experience leading teams focused on acquiring or developing major projects
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of leadership
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Preferred: Familiarity with contractual and tariff provisions
