Job summary

Kellogg Center in East Lansing is seeking a Part-time Dining Worker to assist with preparation, cooking, and serving of meals at East Dining. You will help ensure food safety standards and deliver outstanding guest service in a campus dining setting.

Typical duties include cooking and serving, kitchen cleanup, coordinating with Supervisors and student staff to cover shifts, and ensuring guests receive prompt assistance. Flexibility for early mornings, nights, and weekends is required.

  • Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
  • Be able to work nights, early mornings, and weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with supervisors, managers, and other student team members to ensure customer assistance.
  • Coordinating with Student Supervisors job tasks to be completed each shift.

Job description

Location: East Dining
Pay = 14.73/hour
Note:
Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU , the starting rate for this position will be $16 effective 8/9/26. Those hired prior to 8/9/26 will be brought to the new minimum.

As a part time Dining Worker, you will be responsible for assisting full-time staff members with the preparation, cooking, and serving of food for all meal options for that venue. You must also be knowledgeable of all relevant food safety regulations, standards, and guidelines to ensure the safe handling and serving of all meals to customers. It is your job to make sure the guests of Culinary Services receive the most outstanding customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Minor computer knowledge to be able to do online training

Dining hall hours vary per semester.

  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings (possible start 6:00AM), nights (until 10 PM), and weekends
  • You will be scheduled for weekend shifts on an alternating weekend basis
