Job summary

Kellogg Center in East Lansing is seeking a dishwasher/food service support role located at Case Hall. Shift is 6pm–11pm with weekend availability; standing for long periods and frequent lifting are required.

Starting pay is $16/hr. You will clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, and kitchen equipment to high sanitation standards while supporting the dining team and maintaining a clean work area.

Responsibilities

• Scrape, wash, dry, and store dishes, glassware, and utensils.

• Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors and related areas.
• Load and transport soiled and clean items.
• Empty waste baskets and sanitize containers per standards.
• Check water temperature and soap concentrations to maintain sanitation.
• Perform periodic cleaning of kitchen and serving areas.

Basic Function

To clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, utensils, kitchen and serving equipment, and related work areas by utilizing and operating appropriate equipment.

Starting pay is $16/hr

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Scrape, wash, dry, and store cooking and serving items such as dishes, glassware, silverware, trays, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Clean and sanitize counters, tables, drawers, sinks, and equipment such as ranges, tables, ovens, and refrigerators.
• Operate, clean, and sanitize equipment such as dish machines, pot and pan washers, silver burnishers, garbage disposals, and various conveyors.
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors of kitchen and related work areas.
• Load and transport soiled and clean items such as dishes, glassware, silverware, trays, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Empty waste baskets, trash cans, boxes, and containers, cleaning and sanitizing according to prescribed standards.
• Check water temperature and soap concentrations, adjusting as necessary to maintain sanitation standards.
• Perform periodic cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen and serving areas such as walls, ceilings, doors, windows, shelves, and the lower part of sinks.

Related Duties

Perform related duties as assigned including, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

• Assist supervisor in instructing assigned support employees in work methods and processes.
• Assist supervisor in maintaining food and supply inventories.
• Assist with the preparation of food items.
