Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is hiring a Dining Team Member for the Nebraska Unions Food Commons. You will maintain daily operations across dining concepts, provide friendly service, take orders, prepare items, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Schedule varies, including evenings and weekends. Benefits include generous paid time off, insurance options, retirement plans with university match, and scholarship programs. A CDL is not required for this role.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent is required.
• Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain by passing Safety and Sanitation test is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional customer service to all guests.
• Process customer orders accurately using the POS system.
• Prepare food and beverages according to company standards and customer requests.
• Fulfill mobile and in-store orders efficiently.
• Stock front-of-house and kitchen supplies.
• Prepare ingredients and assist with inventory management.
• Operate dishwashing equipment and maintain cleanliness throughout the facility.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure food quality, safety, and sanitation standards are met.

Description of Work

The Nebraska Unions Food Commons features a variety of dining options, including local favorites such as Valentino’s and Imperial Palace, as well as popular concepts like Sossy’s BBQ , Husker Hero’s, and Choolaah. We are seeking a Dining Team Member to maintain daily operations of one of these dining concepts while helping deliver an outstanding guest experience. As a Dining Team Member, you will:

• Provide friendly, professional customer service to all guests
• Process customer orders accurately using the POS system
• Prepare food and beverages according to company standards and customer requests
• Fulfill mobile and in-store orders efficiently
• Stock front-of-house and kitchen supplies
• Prepare ingredients and assist with inventory management
