Job summary

University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Shift Leader for Valentino's within the Nebraska Unions Food Commons. This position provides day-to-day leadership and supports dining operations, including food production, front-end service, cleaning, opening/closing procedures, and stocking to ensure an outstanding guest experience.

• High school diploma or GED with relevant dining/restaurant experience preferred.
• Ability to train and lead others in a fast-paced dining environment.

• Must meet safety and sanitation requirements as part of role.

Description of Work

The Nebraska Unions Food Commons features a variety of dining options, including local favorites such as Valentino’s and Imperial Palace, as well as popular concepts like Sossy’s BBQ , Husker Hero’s, and Choolaah. We are seeking a Shift Leader to provide day-to-day leadership and support the daily operations of one of these dining concepts while helping deliver an outstanding guest experience.

As a Shift Leader, you will assist with operational leadership by:

• Leading by example through a servant leadership approach
• Supporting daily operations including food production, front-end service, cleaning, opening and closing procedures, and stocking
• Delivering outstanding guest service while resolving questions and concerns in a professional manner
• Assigning daily responsibilities to team members based on operational needs and staffing levels
• Ensuring food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently met
• Training and mentoring new team members to support their success

Schedule varies and includes evenings, late nights, and weekend shifts.
