Qualifications

  • High school graduate with at least three years food service experience preferred.
  • At least one-year supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in an institutional food service preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • CDM credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors work schedules and daily job activities.
  • Monitors compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards.
  • Maintains resident relations with priority on resident care.
  • Monitors sanitation of Dining Service operations and ensures cleaning and equipment maintenance.
  • Directs department activities (meal service, food production, catering, tray service and merchandising).
  • Supports cafe, healthcare, catering functions and special events as needed.
  • Manages resources to meet department budgets.
  • Provides leadership and effective communication with staff; offers feedback and performance appraisals.
  • Interviews candidates for employment and makes hiring/termination decisions after consultation with HR and Director.

About the Position

This position is primarily responsible for supervision of the Dining Service operations. In this role, the successful candidate will display leadership qualities at all times, and provide assistance to all customers as needed. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, The Alexandria, Fillmore Lounge, Bistro, Assisted Living, catering and merchandising functions, and the main kitchen.

Job Duties
  • Monitors work schedules and daily job activities.
  • Monitors compliance with all appropriate Federal, Stare and Local regulatory standards.
  • Maintains effective resident relations always making resident care our first priority
  • Monitors sanitation of the entire Dining Service operation ensuring daily and weekly cleaning assignments are completed and all and equipment is cleaned thoroughly
  • Monitors and directs departmental activities (e.g. meal service, food production, catering activities, tray service and merchandising). Supports meal service for the Healthcare and Assisted Living operation ensuring all standards are followed, monitor food quality and temperatures and portion control and special dietary requirements to meet the needs of our residents.
  • Support/direct café, healthcare, catering functions and special events as necessary.
  • Effectively uses resources and to meet department budgets.
  • Provides leadership by being a role model and maintains effective communication with and feedback from employees in department.
  • Encourages feedback from, maintains relations with, and monitors commitment of providing highest quality service to customers including residents, internal customers, and partners/suppliers.
  • Encourages positive employee behavior and performance, provides constant feedback including timely completion of performance appraisals, and rewards employees appropriately.
  • Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior, takes appropriate action within authority, holds employees accountable, utilizes progressive disciplinary procedures when appropriate, and maintains documentation.
  • Interviews candidates for employment and makes hiring and termination decisions after consultation with Human Resources and Director.
Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with staff, residents, and others.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must use discretion and independent judgment when performing job duties.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credentials preferred.
