Job summary

Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) is seeking a General Service team member for Front-of-House, Bus Person, and Dishroom roles. The position covers setup, service, sanitation, and overall customer experience in a fast-paced university dining environment.

Responsibilities span maintaining stations, sanitation logs, and assisting with events. 32 hours/week, with specific shifts; eligibility includes ServSafe within one year and at least one year of food industry experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have proficiency with the English language (speaking, reading and writing).
• Must have basic math skills and ability to analyze digital and analog thermometers and other measuring devices.
• Must be able to follow directions.
• Must be neat in appearance and comply with proper dress code.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have strong multi‑tasking skills.
• Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with a diverse staff and guests.
• Must be customer service oriented and able to provide the best dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and maintains assigned station before, during and after meal periods.
• Keeps serving areas supplied with clean dishware, glasses, silverware, trays and other supplies.
• Monitors serving lines to ensure quality and quantity meet customer demand.
• Communicates issues to Supervising Manager or Person-in-Charge about food quality and stock.
• Directs guests to safe menu items considering allergies/intolerances.
• Maintains sanitation by cleaning surfaces and logging sanitation records.
• Follows all Harvard Environmental Health and Safety regulations.
• Represents HUDS professionally to students, faculty, staff and guests.
