Job summary

Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) is seeking a General Service employee to support Front-of-House, Bus Person, and Dishroom duties across meal periods. You will help ensure clean, well-stocked stations and compliant service that meets safety standards.

Applicants should hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, be fluent in English, and have basic math for temperature logs. The role is non-exempt, 32 hours per week, with schedule details provided at hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have proficiency with the English language (speaking, reading and writing).
• Must have basic math skills and ability to analyze thermometers and other measuring devices.
• Must be able to follow directions and maintain proper appearance and dress code.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and maintains assigned station before, during and after meal periods.
• Keeps serving areas supplied with clean dishware, glasses, silverware, trays and other supplies needed during meals.
• Monitors serving lines to ensure quality and quantity for customer demand.
• Communicates with Supervising Manager or Person-in-Charge about food quality and issues.
• Maintains safe area by displaying wet floor signs and responding to spills promptly.
• Follows sanitation standards in compliance with Harvard Environmental Health and Safety regulations.
