Position Summary

Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within an established company with over 45 years of experience. The program lasts approximately twenty weeks and includes hands-on and computer-based training covering:

  • General Training & Comprehension: Performing and teaching food service and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Leadership Development: Leading small teams in food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Policies & Procedures: Ensuring food quality, safety, inventory, and customer service standards.
  • Reporting: Maintaining records on income, expenditures, and supplies.
  • Training & Quality Control: Staff training, quality assurance, and performing essential job functions for training purposes.
  • Leadership: Managing payroll, staffing, coaching, purchasing, inventory, and budgeting.
  • Communication: Conveying directives effectively to staff and stakeholders.
  • Safety: Using PPE, handling cleaning solutions safely, reporting issues, and maintaining sanitation standards.
  • Punctuality: Consistent attendance, timely completion of tasks, and prompt response to communications.
  • Customer & Resident Experience: Providing courteous, respectful, and positive interactions.

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, and perform routine tasks.
  • Leadership skills post-training, with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or related field preferred.
  • Completion of Food Protection Manager course within 14 days of employment.
  • Certification as a Dietary Manager or equivalent as required by law.
  • Achieve Food Service Manager and Long-Term Care certifications within 60 days.
  • Experience in food production, service, and supervision preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to complete sanitation and safety training.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Reside within the service area.
