Position Summary

Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program offers a 20-week interactive learning experience covering:

  • General Training & Comprehension: Perform and learn to operate industrial kitchen equipment, covering roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher.
  • Leadership Development: Lead small teams in food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Policies & Procedures: Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Reporting: Maintain records on income, expenses, and inventory.
  • Training & Quality Control: Oversee staff training and quality assessments, including performing essential roles when needed.
  • Leadership: Handle managerial tasks like payroll, staffing, purchasing, and budgeting.
  • Communication: Convey directives effectively to staff from various stakeholders.
  • Safety: Use PPE, handle cleaning chemicals safely, and follow infection control protocols.
  • Punctuality & Customer/Resident Experience: Maintain attendance, respond promptly, and interact courteously and tactfully.

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, perform routine tasks.
  • Leadership skills post-training, with a focus on safety and injury prevention.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality preferred.
  • Completion of Food Protection Manager course within 14 days of hire; certification as required by law.
  • Experience in food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, and work around food and cleaning products.
  • Residence within the service area.
