Job summary

Morningside House of Exton is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for our residents while upholding the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

Work with the Dining Services team to follow daily menus, serve on the line, plate meals attractively, and keep the kitchen clean and organized. Prior cooking or food service experience is preferred; certification in food handling or the ability to obtain it is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous food service or cooking experience.
• Certification in food handling/sanitation, or ability to obtain it.
• Experience in senior living is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to daily menus and recipes.
• Cook and serve food on the line in a timely, orderly manner.
• Plate meals attractively and maintain proper food temperatures.
• Keep kitchen and serving areas clean and sanitized.

Position Summary

As a Cook, you'll help create delicious, nutritious meals for our residents, guests, and staff while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety. You'll work closely with our Dining Services team to ensure every meal is prepared with care and served with pride.

What You'll Do

• Prepare meals according to daily menus and standardized recipes.

• Cook and serve food in a timely, efficient manner.

• Work the serving line during meal service.

• Plate meals attractively with appropriate garnishes and condiments.

• Maintain proper food temperatures throughout preparation and service.

• Keep kitchen equipment, workstations, and serving areas clean and sanitized.

• Rotate, label, date, and properly store all food products.

• Minimize waste through proper food storage and inventory practices.

• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

• Create a welcoming experience by maintaining a positive, professional attitude with residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.
