Job summary

Morningside House Senior Living in Sarasota, FL is hiring a Cook to assist in food preparation for residents and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. This role supports the Food Service Director and works closely with the dining team to deliver quality meals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists Food Service Director Chef in the preparation of menu items.
• Responsible for preparation and implementation of menu items in the Food Service Directors absence.
• Designated supervisor in absence of Director of Food Service as assigned.
• Provides feedback to Food Service Director from residents and staff regarding menu.
• Supervises food preparation personnel during shift as assigned.
• Notifies Food Service Director of food supply needs.
• Demonstrates ability to learn new techniques and presentations.
• Ensures kitchen and prep area is clean and sanitary as per state health, and company regulations and standards.
• Shares existing culinary expertise with other staff to facilitate their learning, providing in-service training when requested.
• Assists marketing department by, providing prospects with information as requested to include properly answering telephone, and generally presenting dining services in accordance with established Standards for Dining Department.
• Attends in-service training as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
