Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, VA, is hiring a Dining Services Associate to assist the Dining Services Director in creating and executing our signature dining program for residents. You will provide friendly, responsive service to ensure an exceptional dining experience that reflects our core values.

The role requires prior food service experience, the Food Handlers Course certification, English literacy, weekend availability, and physical stamina to lift and stand as needed.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in the food service industry is required.
• Ability to read and write English is required.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods; tolerate kitchen heat.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe, sanitary manner.
• Be familiar with HACCP and WHMIS principles.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow hygiene protocols.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a respectful manner for residents.
• Ensure safe use of all equipment and proper cleaning as scheduled.
• Prepare dining rooms daily, including setting tables and handling stock upon receipt.
• Follow cleaning procedures if equipment is unavailable.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
• Create and drive the sales culture.
