Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Dining Service Team Leader for the 12:00pm-8:30pm, Monday–Friday shift. You will supervise dining service workers, assign tasks, build schedules, forecast needs, maintain records, train staff, and ensure food quality and customer service across dining areas.

This essential role supports Selleck Dining Service and daily operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with three years of food preparation experience.
• Ability to read, write, weigh and measure.
• Must train and lead others; team player.
• Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assign tasks and responsibilities to staff to meet dining standards.
• Assist leadership to build schedules, plan menus, forecast and maintain records.
• Prepare and restock stations, operate cashiering and inventory.
• Provide training and monitor cost and waste controls.
• Deliver excellent customer service to dining center patrons.

Description Of Work

The Dining Service Team Leader provides supervision and leadership to dining service workers in one or more areas of the kitchen/dining room.

As a Dining Service Team Leader you will:

• Assign tasks and responsibilities to staff/students to ensure food quality, recipes, and presentation meet dining standards
• Assist leadership to build schedules, plan menus, forecast, maintain records, and develop recipes
• Perform all tasks in dining services including setting up and closing down stations, cooking, re-stocking, recipe/ingredient preparation, operate the computer, cashiering, taking inventory, operating dish machine, and cleaning
• Assist with staff training and monitoring cost and waste controls
• Provide excellent customer service to the patrons of the dining center
• This position is considered essential

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus three years of food preparation experience and mastery of all dining/kitchen tasks and attributes.
• Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary.
• Flexibility, ability to communicate and being a team player essential.
• Must have the ability to train and lead others.
• Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain by passing the Safety and Sanitation test required.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Supervisory experience preferred.
