Job summary

Wingate Living in Cranston, RI is seeking a Dining Room Server to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis. The role reports to the Executive Chef and supports a Dining Department focused on exceptional resident service.

Responsibilities include setting up the dining room, serving residents, following safety and sanitation guidelines, and assisting with cleaning and inventory. A high school diploma is preferred, and experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Experience is preferred, but not necessary.
• Ability to read, understand and follow directions and work assignments is required.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours required.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Executive Chef.
• Follow cleaning duties as scheduled. Assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events.
• Set up the dining room and serving residents per established standards.
• Follow reporting procedures for supply or equipment needs and any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Attend in-service educational programs.
• Follow defined safety codes and infection control procedures in accordance with regulations.
• Comply with all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens and fire safety.
• Promote person-centered care and support 5 Star service objectives.

Job Purpose:

The Dining Room Server performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Department and is accountable to the Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Executive Chef.
• Follow cleaning duties as scheduled. Required to assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep floor at the end of shift.
• Set up the dining room and serving residents per established standards. May be required to prepare and serve coffee, tea, juice, etc.
• Follow reporting procedures for the following:
  • Supply or equipment needs.
  • Any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair.
  • Any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Any conditions conductive to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Attend in-service educational programs.
• Follow defined safety codes and infection control procedures. Assures work is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding sanitation and infection control.
• Required to perform duties efficiently in order to accomplish tasks in allotted time.
• Assures personal compliances to all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.
• Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.
• Actively supports Wingate’s commitment to providing “5 Star” service on all quality objectives with an emphasis on continual improvement and excellent customer service.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
• Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
• Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
