Dining Room Manager – Assisted Living
Position Summary
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dining room in our assisted living community, ensuring residents receive exceptional service in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This role plays a vital part in enhancing residents’ quality of life by promoting dignity, independence, and hospitality during meal times.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure residents are greeted warmly and served respectfully, with attention to individual needs and preferences.
- Coordinate with nursing and dietary staff to accommodate special diets, allergies, and texture-modified meals.
- Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns promptly and compassionately.
Dining Room Operations
- Supervise meal service to ensure timeliness, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Maintain an inviting dining atmosphere that supports the emotional and physical well-being of residents.
- Implement infection control protocols and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
- Hire, train, and manage dining room staff including servers and hosts.
- Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to promote professional growth and accountability.
- Work closely with the Culinary staff and Nursing team to ensure seamless coordination of meal service.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to support a positive dining experience.
- Participate in care plan meetings when needed to support resident nutrition and dining preferences.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or senior care certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food service or hospitality management, ideally in assisted living or healthcare.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a passion for serving older adults.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and elder care regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Active environment with frequent resident interaction.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
