Job summary

University Housing is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to lead the production of safe, quality meals in residential dining facilities on the UW‑Madison campus. You will supervise staff, coordinate daily activities, and ensure excellent customer service across high‑volume dining and catering operations.

The role requires 2+ years in professional food service, a ServSafe Manager certification (or eligible within 6 months), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2 years of food service experience in a professional kitchen setting
• Current ServSafe Manager certification, or the ability to be certified within the first 6 months of appointment
• A valid driver's license meeting UW Risk Management standards is required for catering positions and preferred for in-unit positions

Responsibilities

• Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
• Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
• Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
• Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
