Job summary

Kensington Place Redwood City is hiring for a part-time kitchen/dishwashing role. The position offers competitive hourly pay ($19.60-$21.20 DO€) and a benefits package starting at 30 hours per week. You’ll follow instructions, work well in a team, and uphold food-safety standards while supporting dining services.

Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing dishes, equipment, and areas, handling waste, and attending training sessions. Flexible hours including weekends are required.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED preferred, but not required
• Certified in safe food handling
• Background checks including DOJ/FBI Live-Scan may be required

Responsibilities

• Cleans kitchen and dining service area floors, hard surfaces, storage areas, fixtures, and equipment.
• Prepares china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, and equipment for cleaning.
• Operates dishwashing equipment and sinks to clean and sanitize wares.
• Tests dishwashing equipment temperatures and sanitizer levels.
• Transports and stores clean wares in proper storage.
• Disposes of wet garbage and maintains a clean work environment.
• Attends training courses and participates in professional development.
• Reports any elder abuse or neglect per policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cleans kitchen and dining service area floors, hard surfaces, storage areas, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with all daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
2. Prepares china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, and equipment for cleaning by rinsing and pre-soaking as appropriate.
3. Operates dishwashing equipment and 3-compartment sinks to properly clean and sanitize china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, and equipment components.
4. Tests dishwashing equipment and 3- compartment sinks for proper operating temperature and levels of sanitizer in accordance with safe food handling guidelines.
5. Transports and stores clean small wares to their proper storage place.
6. Disposes of all wet garbage, trash, and cardboard boxes throughout the work shift in order to maintain a clean, uncluttered and safe work environment.
7. Assists with proper storage of all food and supply deliveries and break down and removal of resulting trash.
8. Attends training courses and participates in other professional development activities as required.
9. Report any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.

Knowledge and Skill:

1. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
2. Ability to work effectively within a team based environment.

Qualifications

1. High School education or GED preferred, but not required
2. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime.
3. Certified in safe food handling.
4. Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis by a health screening performed by a physician not more than (6) months prior to or (7) days after employment
5. Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to initial presence in the facility.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

1. Requires ability to stand and walk short distances for extended periods of time.
2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist height and 40 lbs to shoulder height
3. Must be able to push 200 lbs. on a cart with casters
4. Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level
