Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a per diem Diet Aide to support patient meal service. You will greet patients, record meal orders for upcoming meals and assemble trays with accuracy and timeliness.

You will enter selections in the Diet Office computer system, deliver trays, collect used ware, and uphold sanitation standards. The role partners with Dietitians to ensure patient satisfaction and safe, high-quality service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior customer service and/or food service experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patient, inform patient of meal selections and take meal orders for next scheduled meal.
• Assemble food trays for assigned patients following portion guidelines.
• Enter menu selections into the Diet Office computer system.
• Deliver trays timely and collect used trays at end of meal service.
• Adhere to sanitary regulations and department policies for food handling.
• Operate equipment safely and assist with ware washing as needed.
• Refer patient to Dietitian if required and communicate patient feedback.

Responsible for patient meal order selection, complete and accurate assembly of food trays, timely delivery of meal service, tray collection and sanitation/ware washing.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Greets patient, informs patient of meal selections and takes meal orders for next scheduled meal; ensures service excellence standards are met.
2. Assists patient in selecting appropriate food choices and recommends alternatives where necessary; refers patient to Dietitian as required.
3. Enters menu selections into diet office computer system.
4. Obtains patient feedback and informs supervisor or Dietitian of any issues patient is experiencing with food service, quality or preferences.
5. Assembles food trays for assigned patients and follows portion guidelines.
6. Delivers trays in a timely fashion and collects and delivers used trays to kitchen at the end of meal service.
7. Handles food according to sanitary regulations and department policy.
8. Operates equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
9. Assists with ware washing of re-usable equipment.
10. Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Prior relevant experience, required.
• Prior customer service and/or food service experience is highly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
