Job summary

Hattie's Glen Assisted Living & Memory Care in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking an Entry Level Dining Aide to assist with meal service, food safety, and resident-centered dining experiences in accordance with Wisconsin DHS codes. You will help prepare, portion, and deliver meals with dignity.

This role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety protocols, proper sanitation, and supporting residents' nutritional and social well-being through attentive service and respectful interactions with residents

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or healthcare settings preferred.
• Must be able to read and follow written menus and instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work as part of a team and show respect for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal service: prepare designated menu, set tables, plate food, deliver meals.
• Ensure food is served at safe temperatures per guidelines.
• Assist residents in a respectful and dignified manner during meals.
• Follow menus and portion sizes as directed by dietary staff.
• Clean dining areas, tables, and equipment following sanitation standards.
• Store leftovers properly and label items per safety protocols.
• Observe and report residents' food intake and preferences to staff.
• Maintain knowledge of resident dietary restrictions and allergies.
• Ensure snacks and beverages are available per DHS policies.
• Participate in staff training and follow infection control and safety protocols.
• Assist with dishwashing, kitchen cleanup, and restocking supplies.

Level: Entry, Job Location: Hatties Glen Madison - Madison, WI, Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.00Hourly, Job Shift: Evening/PM, Position Summary: The Dining Aide provides support with meal service, food safety, sanitation, and resident-centered dining experiences in accordance with Wis. Admin. Code DHS 83 (Community-Based Residential Facilities) and DHS 89 (Residential Care Apartment Complexes). This role supports the nutritional and social well-being of residents by ensuring that meals are served timely, safely, and with dignity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support meal service by assisting with preparing designated menu, setting tables, plating food, and delivering meals in the dining room or residents' apartments (as appropriate).
• Ensure food is served at safe and appropriate temperatures, following DHS food safety guidelines.
• Assist residents in a respectful and courteous manner, promoting autonomy and dignity during mealtimes.
• Follow menus and portion sizes as directed by the dietary manager or cook.
• Clean dining areas, tables, and food service equipment in compliance with sanitation standards.
• Properly store leftovers and label food items per food safety protocols.
• Observe and report residents’ food intake, preferences, or any changes in appetite to nursing or administrative staff.
• Maintain knowledge of resident dietary restrictions, food allergies, or special diets.
• Ensure that snacks and beverages are available to residents per DHS 83.44 and resident rights under DHS 83.32 and DHS 89.24.
• Participate in staff training and follow all infection control, sanitation, and safety protocols.
• Assist with dishwashing, cleaning of the kitchen, and restocking supplies as needed.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or healthcare settings is preferred.
• Must be able to read and follow written menus and instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate a positive attitude and respect for residents.

Regulatory Compliance (DHS 83 & DHS 89):

• Must follow all infection control procedures and sanitation practices per DHS 83.42(3) and DHS 89.23(4).
• Adhere to the community’s Resident Rights policies and ensure meals are provided in a person-centered manner.
• Must complete training on standard precautions, residents' rights, and dietary safety within 90 days of hire as required by DHS 83.20.
• May be subject to background check and caregiver registry clearance under Wis. Stat. § 50.065.

Work Schedule:

Hours may vary and include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the community and dining service schedules.
