Job summary

O'Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS) seeks a Dimensional Quality Assurance Technician to support second shift operations. You will review audits, calibrate tools, interpret drawings with GD&T, and generate clear inspection reports for corrective action.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in manufacturing QA, hands-on FARO/CMM experience, and familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, FMEA, PPAP, and PPAP-related plans. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid grasp of GD&T and print interpretation.
• Hands-on experience with FARO or other CMM systems.
• Exposure to FMEA, PPAP, FAI or FPY, and Advanced Control Plans.
• Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming material audits, first-piece checks, and open nonconformances per procedures.
• Set up and calibrate measurement tools and test equipment for traceability.
• Interpret drawings using GD&T to establish inspection criteria.
• Use FARO or CMM equipment to perform dimensional analyses and generate inspection reports.
• Coach operators on SPC and process capability to maintain control.
• Perform in-process and shipping audits and elevate nonconformances.
• Conduct destructive and non-destructive tests; support welding inspection and WPS when applicable.
• Contribute to PPAP, FAI/FPY, FMEA, and Advanced Control Plans with Eng. and Quality teams.
• Participate in Kaizen activities to improve quality and throughput.
• Work independently on complex assignments with error-free observations.

At O'Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS)—an O’Neal Industries affiliate—you’ll help ensure the quality of fabricated metal components and welded assemblies used in locomotives, forklifts, construction machinery, and power generation. Founded in 1921, OMS operates multiple manufacturing facilities across North America to support OEMs with top-tier contract metal manufacturing.

A day-in-the-life on our second shift

• Start your shift by reviewing incoming material audits, first-piece checks, and any open nonconformances—logging everything to our quality records in line with current standards and procedures.
• Set up and calibrate measurement tools and test equipment (as needed), documenting each activity to maintain full traceability.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications using GD&T to establish acceptance criteria and inspection plans.
• Use FARO or other CMM equipment to complete dimensional analyses, and compile clear inspection reports for review and corrective action.
• Coach operators on SPC charting, explaining trends and capability so processes remain in control and products conform.
• Perform in-process and shipping audits; when anything is off-spec, notify operators and supervisors immediately and elevate documentation to management.
• Conduct destructive and non‑destructive tests to evaluate performance and material characteristics; support welding inspection and, when applicable, contribute to WPS creation.
• Contribute to PPAP, FAI/FPY, FMEA, and Advanced Control Plans; help refine or create work instructions and inspection procedures with the Engineering and Quality teams.
• Participate in Kaizen activities; make recommendations that enhance quality and throughput within the capability of equipment.
• Work independently on complex assignments, providing error‑free work and detailed observations of production processes.

Schedule

Second Shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm, Monday – Friday

Must be able to work 2nd shift; overtime required as needed. Training may occur on 1st or 2nd shift.

What you’ll bring

• High School diploma or GED required; Technical or Associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort with manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Solid grasp of GD&T and print interpretation.
• Hands‑on experience with FARO or other CMM systems.
• Exposure to FMEA, PPAP, FAI or FPY, and Advanced Control Plans.
• Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.
• Experience with calibration or metrology software; PolyWorks and GAGEpack preferred.
• Background in welding inspection and creating Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) preferred.

Desirable (can be learned on the job)

• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding requirements.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AISI, or comparable customer specifications.
• Prior hands‑on work with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.

Physical and environmental demands

• Lift up to 60 lbs repetitively during a shift.
• Bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for extended periods.
• Walk 2–5 miles per shift.
• Vision: 20/30 with corrective lenses.
• Fine motor coordination for precise handling and measurement.

Work may be indoors or outdoors with changing temperatures, loud noise, and vibration. You may encounter:

• Hazards: Proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high heat, and chemicals.
• Atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or low ventilation that may affect skin or respiratory system.
• Oils: Air and/or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids.
