The Lee Company in Westbrook, CT is seeking a precision inspector to translate GD&T drawings into inspection plans and operate automated inspection systems.

You will work with metrology tools, participate in in-process and final inspections, and collaborate with Engineering to ensure quality across aerospace and medical instrument components.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; substantial experience inspecting machined components.
  • Working knowledge of metrology, SPC, and GD&T; exposure to CMM, vision systems and automated inspection systems.
  • Fluency with complex specifications and blueprints; able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Daily sustained concentration requiring focus, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.

Responsibilities

  • Operate precision measurement tools and vision systems to validate features and tolerances.
  • Program and run complex automated inspection equipment for repeatable checks.
  • Design and lay out new inspection fixtures and tools; maintain equipment reliability.
  • Record all required data within designated databases and software.
  • Conduct in-process inspections before proceeding to subsequent operations.
  • Perform final inspections against PO/SO criteria prior to shipment.
  • Inspect special builds with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to verify parameters and instructions.
  • Issue acceptability decisions aligned with Process Specifications and QC Manual.

Your Impact

  • Safeguard dimensional integrity on miniature, precision fluid control parts used in aerospace, medical/scientific instruments, oil tools, and automotive systems.
  • Translate specifications, purchase orders, and sales orders into actionable inspection plans.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate precision measurement tools (micrometers, verniers, measurement gauges) and vision systems to validate features and tolerances.
  • Program and run complex automated inspection equipment for repeatable, high-throughput checks.
  • Design and lay out new inspection fixtures and tools; keep inspection equipment in reliable condition.
  • Record all required data within designated databases and software programs.
  • Conduct in-process inspections before work advances to subsequent operations.
  • Perform final inspections against PO/SO criteria prior to shipment.
  • Inspect special builds in collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, verifying adherence to machine/process parameters and instructions.
  • Issue acceptability decisions aligned with Process Specifications and the Quality Control Manual.

Must-Haves
