DIMENSIONAL ENGINEER – Troy, MichiganHybrid Position / Open-ended contract positionPay Rate: approximately $50.00 hourJob Scope of the Dimensional Engineer:A Dimensional Engineer for Automotive Interiors ensures that interior cabin components – such as instrument panels, door trims, consoles, and headliners – meet precise fit, finish, craftsmanship, and geometric tolerances from the prototype phase through full-scale production.Core Responsibilities of the Dimensional Engineer:Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis : Run mathematical tolerance models on plastic injection molded parts, sub-assemblies, and interfacesFit and Finish (Craftsmanship) : Ensure tight gap and flush tolerances, tactile alignment, and zero-squeak/ratter interfaces across adjacent cabin partsMetrology and Data Analysis : Analyze scan data, CMM reports, and coordinate measurements from checking fixtures, Meisterbock, or laser scannersRoot Cause Problem Solving : Identify root cause for warp, shrinkage, or misaligned assembly tooling when interior parts fail to sit correctlySupplier & Tooling Collaboration : Work with suppliers and toolmakers to modify injection mold or assembly jigsRequirements and Qualifications for the Dimensional Engineer:Education : Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred, will consider experience in leu of degreeGD&T Experience : Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingSoftware Skills : Proficiency in CAD (NX and/or CATIA) and 3D inspection software (PolyWorks, Geomagic, Verisurf)Manufacturing Knowledge : Familiarity with plastic injection molding, forming, soft-trim manufacturing, and sequence-of-assembly processesA successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.By applying for this role, you confirm that all information submitted is accurate and complete.
