Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Michigan is seeking a Dimensional Engineer to lead dimensional improvements on vehicle geometry, via part, tooling, or design actions, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will analyze complex parts with measurement systems (CMMs, laser trackers) and data from multiple sources to identify top issues and root causes, then work with production and quality teams to implement and validate solutions, while monitoring trends for variation reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• GD&T knowledge with measurement and tolerance understanding.
• Proficient reading of measurement data.
• Experience with NX System and Teamcenter is desired.
• Mechanical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead dimensional improvements on vehicle geometry through actions on parts, tooling, or design.
• Analyze complex parts and sub-assemblies using measurement systems (CMMs, laser trackers, etc.).
• Perform data analysis across sources to identify top issues and root causes.
• Work with production and quality teams to implement and validate solutions.
• Verify effectiveness of corrective actions via data analysis.
• Monitor trend charts and drive variation reduction with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate issues with internal and external suppliers to drive resolution.

Project background:

• The Dimensional Engineer is responsible for leading dimensional improvements on vehicle geometry through part, tooling, or design actions.
• The engineer will work with team members to analyze complex parts and sub-assemblies (sheet metal, exterior and interior) using various measurement systems (example, Meisterbock, quality assurance fixtures, laser trackers, CMMs and In-Line Vision Stations).
• Perform data analysis, often organizing data from multiple sources to identify top issues and potential root causes.
• Work with production personnel and plant quality engineers to implement and validate proposed solutions.
• Verify effectiveness of corrective actions implemented through data analysis.
• Proactively monitor trend charts and work with cross-functional teams to drive variation reduction of critical product and process characteristics.
• Interact with suppliers, both internal and external, to communicate issues and drive resolution

• Skills / technologies mandatory :
• GD&T - knowledge about measurement and tolerance
• Team Center = NX System -> how to pull the CAD up, how to cut a section of the part
• Proficient reading measurement data
• Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Mechanical preferred

• Detailed soft skills:
• Strong communication skills with ability to work with a cross-functional teams
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge in basic statistics and process control required
