Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fabricate, and assemble a variety of tooling and fixtures to exact tolerances.
  • Plan work from tool design drawings or own designs.
  • Set up and operate optical instruments for alignment checks.
  • Develop and design holding devices and jig/fixture details.
  • Prepare shop drawings for parts fabrication and assembly by others.
  • May monitor and verify quality using statistical control procedures.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Business Unit (ASBU) has opening for a Dimension Control Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Saint Augustine, Fl.

The Dimension Control Technician will be part of the Tool Die Making team within the Tooling department and will have considerable knowledge of the job with substantial acquaintance with an understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job and be able to perform more advanced functions and resolve routine questions and problems. The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate, and collaborate across all levels, will thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented work environment with high expectations, enjoy significantly diverse assignments, demonstrate a high attention to detail to ensure accuracy of the product and have high integrity to self-report errors to a supervisor when detected. Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Lay out, fabricate, and assemble a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling involving compound angles and complex contours where the establishment and coordination to exacting tolerances of numerous tooling holes and reference points between several planes are required.
  • Plan work to be performed and determines methods and sequence of operations working from tool design drawings or own designs.
  • Sets up and operates optical instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies.
  • Develop and designs holding devices and jig and fixture details.
  • Prepare operational sequences and shop drawings covering parts fabrication and assembly to be performed by others.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Basic Qualifications Level 4
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 6 years of tool building and/or laser tracker experience -OR- associates degree and 2 years of tool building and/or laser tracker experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government clearance per company and or business needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) per company and business needs
  • Must have the ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 35 pounds.
  • Able to work inside and outside in a warehouse / shop floor environment
  • Experience with laser tracker, FARO equipment and assembly tools in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in devising reference systems and creating working build models
  • Experience in communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vast knowledge of laser tracking with assembly tools in an aircraft manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of Tool and Die or related experience With E2D & New generation technology, GD&T and advanced Metrology
  • Creating working build models with Buildit Software
  • Extensive knowledge in software products in Buildit is highly desired
  • Able to operate and or be certified to operate a forklift and overhead crane (Northrop Grumman provided training)
  • Working knowledge of common hardware and tooling material
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office and be proficient in keeping inventories
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $74,500.00 - $124,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
