Job summary

New Era Cap in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Digitizer to translate graphic designs and logos into production-ready embroidery files for domestic and international supply. You will collaborate with Design, Production Art, and Product teams to ensure color accuracy and file integrity across the embroidery library.

This role requires experience with Illustrator and embroidery software (Wilcom), a bachelor’s in graphic design or related field, and the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet SLAs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in digitizing graphic designs.
  • Illustrator experience required; Photoshop preferred.
  • Experience with embroidery software Wilcom.
  • Ability to accurately translate colors.

Responsibilities

  • Digitize designs to embroidery-ready digital files.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to meet SLAs.
  • Manage daily workload and coordinate with outsourcing partners.
  • Maintain embroidery file databases and confidentiality of logos and rights.
  • Assist with ROAL artwork uploads and tape management.
  • Support Global Quality with embroidery improvements.
  • Train third-party digitizing resources in New Era processes.
  • Handle confidential information and sensitive materials.

The role of the Digitizer is responsible for collaboration with Design, Graphic Design, Production Art and Product to effectively execute and support the conversion of graphic designs, logos, and artwork into digital files that can be read and executed by embroidery machines. This process is essential for turning creative concepts into production‑ready formats for domestic and global production. This role ensures that aesthetic design, color inspiration, print direction, fabrics and trims are translated into production ready standards by maintaining integrity of the embroidery library for all active, in‑active and confidential tapes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day digitizing activities by converting graphic designs, logos, and artwork into digital files that can be read and executed by embroidery machines
  • Collaborate with the digitizing team to manage the daily workload in Job Tracker* to ensure timely and efficient processing of requests to achieve internal and external service level agreements (SLA’s) to support the business
  • Process daily workload and develop assignment schedules to streamline digitizing work overflow to outsource partners
  • Assist with maintaining constantly changing data bases of embroidery files for active and in‑active tapes specially monitoring confidential logos, league rights, etc
  • Assist with overseeing sampling and production of digitized files from production locations and third party resources and provide direction/updates to tapes as needed
  • Upload vector artwork into ROAL* and maintain the art and tape information in ROAL
  • Assist Global Quality with embroidery improvements for domestic and global production
  • Collaborate with ROAL and Global Production Teams to address any graphic errors in regard to digitized files or ROAL output
  • Coordinate New Era Hot Market designs, tape creation and ROAL’ing to support production
  • Provide off hours support when needed for new tape request, clinches and at once opportunities
  • Train and onboard third-party digitizing resources on New Era processes and procedures as needed
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong computer skills; Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to learn and utilize new systems

  • Understand manufacturing, specifically embroidery operation procedures
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field preferred; relevant job experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in digitizing graphic designs
  • Ability to accurately translate colors required
  • Illustrator experience required, photoshop preferred
  • Experience with embroidery software required, Wilcom preferred

  • The location for this position is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this posted position is $50,000 - $60,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation will fall within this range and is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
