Job summary

Xcimer Energy, headquartered in Denver, CO, seeks a Laser/Optical Simulation Engineer to own the end-to-end digital twin of our laser architecture, leveraging excimer lasers and nonlinear optical compression. You will collaborate across theory, software, optical, and mechanical teams to extend the virtual beamline with new modules and interfaces.

You will run Monte Carlo studies on HPC resources, write thorough documentation, and implement unit tests to ensure robust performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in optical physics, lasers, or software engineering.
• Expertise in optical simulation methods such as diffraction, ray tracing, Gaussian beamlet decomposition, laser amplification, turbulence correction, or nonlinear optical propagation.
• Ability to write and maintain a high-quality, scalable codebase within a team.
• Design of and hands-on experience with complex optical/laser systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including documentation of technical results.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end digital twin (virtual beamline) of the laser architecture.
• Collaborate with Theory/Computations, Software, Optical, and Mechanical Engineering teams to extend the architecture and interfaces.
• Run Monte Carlo simulations and sensitivity analyses using HPC resources.
• Write clear documentation for users and developers to accelerate onboarding.
• Develop, implement, and enforce unit tests and code validation checks.
• Propose creative solutions to complex challenges involving large laser systems.
