Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO is seeking a Laser/Optical Simulation Engineer to own a digital twin of our laser architecture using excimer lasers. You will define requirements, implement modules, and run system-level analyses to refine hardware needs.

Collaborate with Theory/Computation, Software, Optical, Mechanical Engineering teams; run Monte Carlo simulations on HPC resources; write documentation and implement tests to ensure quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in optical physics, lasers, or software engineering.
• Expertise in optical simulation methods (diffraction, ray tracing, Gaussian beamlet decomposition, laser amplification, turbulence correction, or nonlinear optical propagation).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to document results.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a “virtual beamline” digital twin of our laser architecture.
• Collaborate with Theory/Computation, Software Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other teams to expand the virtual beamline architecture and interfaces.
• Run Monte Carlo simulations and parameter sensitivity studies using HPC resources.
• Write clear documentation to onboard users and developers.
• Develop, implement, and enforce unit tests and code validation checks.
• Identify and solve unique challenges involving large laser systems.
