Job description

Overview

We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering. And we want you.

We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, Bell’s Autonomous Pod Transport (APT), and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.

The Digital Thread Engineer is responsible for supporting Digital Engineering Ecosystem development in support of the Future Vertical Lift programs. You will work across the programs to prioritize, conceptualize, prototype, and implement solutions that facilitate data and system integrations, automations, and analytics across various Bell data source systems. The Digital Thread Engineer will be an integral part of the overall IPT structure, working closely with customers and subcontractors to ensure stakeholder requirements are met.

What you’ll be doing as a Digital Thread Engineer
  • Collaborate across all program teams (including, but not limited to, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, product support, airworthiness, and data management) at a technical level to identify, elaborate, prototype, and implement digital engineering capabilities, including analytical tools, automations, visualizations, and data and system integrations.
  • Establish proficiency in Bell’s engineering, manufacturing, and product support processes and associated tools and datasets to maintain enterprise-level awareness of the lifecycle of data, models, and analyses comprising the Digital Engineering ecosystem.
  • Leverage understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage data in new and valuable ways.
  • Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art tools and approaches for Digital Engineering, identifying opportunities to insert the technologies into Bell’s processes.
  • Document and communicate approach to ensure alignment across teams.
  • Provide status updates for major program milestones.
  • Coordinate across program integrated project teams, Bell IT, and vendors.
Skills You Bring To this Role
  • Experience implementing and using RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
  • Experience with the CAMEO MBSE is preferred.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work assignments.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams.
  • Have effective and clear communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated communication skills needed to brief top-level management, customers and/or large groups on an occasional-to-frequent basis.
  • We are looking for inquisitive and driven individuals with a passion to innovate.
What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or relevant technical area (e.g. engineering, physics, math, computer science). Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, C#, .Net Java, Rust).
  • Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries.
What we offer you in return
  • You’ll be off every other Friday with our 9/80 work schedule
  • 80 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO)
  • 120 hours Vacation time
  • 12-13 paid holidays per year
  • 6 weeks parental leave
  • Competitive salary
  • On-site clinic, pharmacy, physical therapy, and licensed counselor
  • Access to more than 11 Employee Resource Groups
  • And so much more

It’s time to make your mark on the future of aviation. Join us on this mission, and let’s make history together.

We are on a journey to amplify innovation, cultivate purpose and bridge experiences by fostering a culture that is driven by unique perspectives, voices and values.
