Job summary

Notre Dame in Smyrna, GA is seeking a full‑time intern to join the Sensor Systems Engineering Division. You will assist research engineers with system engineering tasks, work on DSP design in MATLAB, implement digital systems with VHDL/FPGA, and test RF components.

You will develop automated tests in NI LabVIEW, analyze measured data, and help generate schematics and PCB layouts. A BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is pursued with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and you must be a U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or higher required.
• Full-Time Interns must be registered for full-time internship credit; Part-Time Interns must be registered for 6+ credits.
• Experience in one or more programming languages is preferred.
• Task or team leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with Linux and open source tools.
• Experience with configuration management tools.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
• Clear communication of technical ideas.

Responsibilities

• Assist Research Engineers in system engineering tasks within the Sensor Systems Engineering Division.
• Engage in digital signal processing design and simulation using MATLAB.
• Implement digital systems with VHDL and FPGA hardware.
• Test and characterize digital, analog, RF components, and systems.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts in NI LabVIEW.
• Analyze measured test data.
• Assemble and wire custom modules and chassis.
• Generate schematics and PCB layouts.
• Develop C/C++ code.
