Bernstein-Rein is seeking a Digital Strategist to connect client business objectives with smart, integrated digital marketing solutions. This person will turn audience, market, channel, and performance insights into clear, actionable strategies that help clients build their brands, deepen customer relationships, and drive measurable growth.
The Digital Strategist will evaluate the broader digital ecosystem—including website and conversion experience, content and creative best practices, SEO/AIO, data and analytics, and marketing technology—to identify gaps, uncover opportunities, and build connected solutions that improve both customer experience and business results.
The Digital Strategist will work closely with Account Services, Media, Creative, Retail Strategy & Insights, 1:1 Marketing, clients, platform partners, and the web development team to develop connected digital and omnichannel recommendations across the customer journey. The ideal candidate is an equal parts strategic thinker, data-literate problem solver, strong communicator, and collaborative agency partner. They will use AI thoughtfully to accelerate research, explore possibilities, and strengthen recommendations, while applying sound human judgment to the insights, strategy, and work delivered to clients. This role serves as the strategic connector across digital experience, channel strategy, creative, media, measurement, and web development, bringing the right disciplines together around a cohesive customer journey and actionable digital plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead development of digital and integrated marketing strategies that align with client business goals, target audiences, brand priorities, and campaign objectives.
- Translate research, audience insights, consumer behavior, competitive activity, and performance data into clear strategic recommendations.
- Use approved AI tools to support audience and competitive research, insight synthesis, journey mapping, strategic briefs, and performance analysis; verify findings and turn them into original, client-relevant recommendations.
- Develop customer journey maps, channel roles, audience frameworks, measurement approaches, and campaign roadmaps.
- Evaluate the end-to-end digital customer experience across websites, landing pages, conversion paths, CRM, search, content, and paid channels; identify friction points and recommend prioritized improvements.
- Partner with Media, Creative, Analytics, Retail Strategy & Insights, and 1:1 Marketing teams as well as clients, platform partners, and the web development partners to ensure channel, message, experience, and measurement plans are connected and to define clear digital requirements, user journeys, data capture, reporting inputs, and testing priorities before work moves into execution.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation across the digital customer journey, planning, measurement, reporting, and workflow; partner with Analytics, Technology, and discipline leads to define practical use cases, requirements, and guardrails.
- Prepare strategic briefs that provide clear direction to internal teams and support strong creative and media development.
- Bring platform-specific creative and content best practices forward, helping shape recommendations for format, messaging, calls to action, landing experiences, and audience relevance.
- Review digital performance across relevant channels, including paid media, owned platforms, CRM/email, social, website, SEO, and ecommerce, identifying insights, risks, and opportunities.
- Use performance and user-behavior findings to diagnose the business issue behind results and recommend connected optimization actions across media, creative, audience, website, and conversion paths.
- Lead or support client strategy meetings, workshops, and presentations; communicate complex information in a concise, compelling, and actionable manner.
- Develop reporting narratives and optimization recommendations that focus on meaningful business outcomes—not simply channel-level activity or vanity metrics.
- Identify broader opportunities to strengthen clients’ digital ecosystem, including workflow, technology, measurement, and channel integration, and recommend practical next steps.
- Monitor digital, retail, consumer, platform, and AI-enabled marketing trends; bring forward relevant opportunities for clients and internal teams.
- Stay current on evolving search behavior, AI-generated results, privacy changes, platform capabilities, and emerging digital experiences, and determine where these changes matter for clients.
- Share useful AI-supported methods with internal teams and help improve how we develop strategy, while protecting client information and maintaining appropriate human review.
- Assess how AI is changing consumer discovery, search, shopping, content, and customer experience, and identify practical implications for client strategies.
- Support new-business efforts through research, strategic thinking, presentation development, and pitch participation.
- Manage multiple client workstreams and deliverables while maintaining attention to quality, scope, timing, and business impact.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business, analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Five or more years of experience in digital strategy, integrated marketing strategy, media strategy, ecommerce, CRM, or a related agency/client-side role. Experience across web/UX, analytics, or digital experience strategy is strongly preferred.
- Agency experience and experience serving multiple clients or brands strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of digital marketing channels and their roles across the customer journey, including paid media, social, search, SEO, content, email/CRM, websites, ecommerce, and analytics.
- Experience developing strategic recommendations for digital experience, websites, landing pages, conversion optimization, or UX in partnership with web development and technical teams; not solely paid media or channel strategy.
- Experience using data and research to develop recommendations and evaluate performance.
- Understanding of website analytics, tagging, conversion tracking, data capture, and measurement design; able to translate business needs into clear requirements and work effectively with clients, platform partners, and technical resources without needing to be the hands-on analyst or developer.
- Experience creating testing roadmaps and using customer behavior and performance data to improve creative, media, website, and conversion outcomes.
- Working knowledge of SEO and evolving AI search/AIO considerations, including how content quality, technical foundations, authority, and user experience affect visibility.
- Ability to translate business needs and digital performance findings into clear requirements and integrated recommendations for internal teams, clients, and external partners, including challenging disconnected requests when the broader business problem calls for a more connected solution.
- Curiosity and working knowledge of generative AI and automation, including the implications for consumer behavior, search, content, measurement, and ways of working; ability to evaluate where emerging capabilities can create meaningful value for clients and internal teams.
- Familiarity with analytics, research, and reporting platforms such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, writing, and client-facing communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to turn complex information into simple, useful stories and recommendations.
- Highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with retail, shopper marketing, loyalty, 1:1 marketing, or consumer packaged goods is a plus.
