Job summary

Seneca Resources in the United States is seeking a Systems Engineer V to lead the digital transformation initiatives for a federal agency. You will drive cloud architecture, automation, and secure DevSecOps practices across AWS, Kubernetes, and enterprise systems to deliver mission-critical applications and services.

You will collaborate with AWS engineers, security, and application teams, respond to RFIs, and ensure robust monitoring, incident response, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience with AWS cloud services, networking, IT security, and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and implementation of new tech solutions.
  • Advance CI/CD maturity and DevSecOps practices.
  • Collaborate with AWS engineers, security, and developers to optimize digital solutions.
  • Respond to RFIs with technical proposals aligned to strategic goals.
  • Monitor systems, troubleshoot, and manage incidents with observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch).
  • Document incident management and standard procedures.
  • Standardize processes and adopt AI emergent tech where applicable.
  • Participate in Agile sprints and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support security/compliance in cloud environments (IAM, Kubernetes, enterprise tools).

Job description

Position Description: Join a dynamic team as a Systems Engineer V, where you'll lead innovative initiatives within a federal agency's digital transformation efforts. This role is perfect for a high-level technical expert passionate about DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise solutions. You'll drive architecture, automation, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical applications and digital services. Your hands‑on expertise will support the design, development, and support of cloud-based systems, with a focus on AWS, Kubernetes, and security. If you're a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in leading complex technical projects, this opportunity offers impactful work at the forefront of digital modernization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical design, development, and implementation of new technology solutions.
  • Drive maturity in software development practices and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Collaborate across teams including AWS engineers, network, security, and application developers to innovate and optimize digital solutions.
  • Respond to RFIs and craft technical responses aligned with strategic goals.
  • Manage real-time troubleshooting, system monitoring, and incident response using observability tools like Datadog and CloudWatch.
  • Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation for incident management, root cause analysis, and standard procedures.
  • Lead efforts to standardize processes, improve efficiency, and establish best practices for data, systems, and emerging technologies like AI.
  • Participate actively in Agile sprints to evolve technology and processes.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support security and compliance initiatives within cloud environments, including IAM, Kubernetes, and enterprise security tools.
Top Requirements:
  • 12+ years of experience with AWS cloud services, networking, IT security, and enterprise systems.
  • Hands‑on expertise with DevSecOps, automation, application development, and CICD pipelines (GitLab, Terraform).
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes (AWS EKS), containerization, and platform as a service (PaaS) environments.
  • Strong knowledge of security tools and compliance standards, including AWS Security, Aqua, DLP, and IAM roles.
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, C, or Java.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools like Datadog, CloudWatch, and OpenSearch.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • AWS Solutions Architect - Professional and AWS Certified Security - Specialty certifications preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
