Job summary

The Moody Medical Library at UTMB Health seeks a Digital Services Librarian to maintain and customize its discovery service, databases, and library website.

This role supports teaching, patient care, research, and administration across the Moody Library, and requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited program with strong digital skills.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, user testing, reporting usage statistics, and representing the library at campus and consortia meetings.

Qualifications

• MLS in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience with library digital services and discovery tools.
• Knowledge of metadata workflows.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and customize the Moody Medical Library's discovery service.
• Monitor automated holdings updates and resolve issues with the Head of Technical Services.
• Customize discovery UI and troubleshoot linking issues.
• Improve search results presentation through deduplication and ranking.
• Conduct user testing and accessibility reviews of the library website.
• Troubleshoot access to subscription databases.
• Generate reports on holdings, usage, and website traffic.
• Represent the Library at campus and consortia meetings.
• Participate in library special projects.
• Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
• Perform related duties as required.
