The Digital Press Operator is responsible for loading jobs, managing ink, running the press, and inspecting output for quality. The position emphasizes accuracy, safety, and adherence to production schedules, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing training offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment, printing or packaging preferred.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Regularly stand and walk; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have color vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality labels to meet job specifications.
• Input data into job management software.
• Load jobs into press and fill ink cans.
• Start press and adjust speed and alignment.
• Adjust printing impression and inspect approval strip for imperfections.
• Communicate changes to supervisor to minimize downtime.
• Report press issues to supervisor promptly.

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly press maintenance.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.

Job description

The Digital Press Operator sets up and operates the HP 13\" Digital printing press to produce pressure sensitive labels and related products. This position offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce high quality labels to meet the job specifications outlined on the label order to match customer standards.


• Inputs data including time and materials used into job management software.


• Reads job order and loads jobs into press, fills ink cans and pumps with prescribed inks.


• Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.


• Adjusts printing impression as necessary and runs down approval strip.


• Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections and makes adjustments as necessary.


• Communicates job specific information or changes to the supervisor in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.


• Report any production or press issues to supervisor in a timely manner.


• Keeps inventory usage accurate at all times.


• Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required.


• Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment, printing or packaging industry experience preferred.


• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


• Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales, and other measurement devices.


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently is required to walk.


• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.


• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
