Job summary

Caris Life Sciences is seeking a Laboratory Technician to oversee slide-scanning in the clinical laboratory, operate Whole Slide Scanners, and QC digital images under supervision.

The role requires an Associate degree in Biological or Physical Sciences, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while coordinating with Pathology and Operations teams. Travel and some on-call hours may be involved.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biological and/or Physical Sciences required or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols.
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate receipt for scanning of glass microscope slides and assess quality for scanning.
• Operate the Whole Slide Scanners used by the department.
• Evaluate workflow to determine optimal slide placement on scanners and prioritize accordingly.
• Review generated images for quality issues and re-scan as needed.
• Triages cases for digital review to ensure viable scans for Pathologist review.
• Maintain scanners between vendor maintenance visits and perform calibrations per vendor specs.
• Assist with testing software solutions to support the department.
• Monitor department email and address inquiries in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with IHC, Lab Operations, Pathology Operations, and Pathologists.
• Follow SOPs and comply with GLP and safety requirements.
