Job summary

National Geographic Society seeks a Sr. Manager of Digital Operations to lead the CHHC project, guiding digital asset assessment, digitization workflows, and community-informed access. You’ll supervise two staff and shape strategies for digitizing multi-format histories with care for source communities.

You will catalog assets in OrangeDAM, apply restrictions, and collaborate closely with the Center and Special Collections to advance inclusive, contextualized archives through 2032.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 3+ years of management experience in GLAM or related institutions.
• 7+ years of progressive responsibility in large digital projects.
• Experience with digital asset management and metadata standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop guidelines for digital asset assessment and digitization with community consent.
• Oversee staff and workflows, ensuring standards and collaboration with source communities.
• Catalog assets using DAM ViewFinder, applying legal, ethical restrictions.
• Design and refine digital asset surveys and discovery interfaces.
• Report progress and roadblocks to the Project Director.
