Job summary

Morgan Murphy Media's My UP News (WBUP/WJMN) seeks a Digital Producer to lead our digital storytelling and streaming initiatives in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The role blends on-air and digital expertise to meet today’s audience needs, with a focus on deadlines, breaking news, and audience engagement.

The Digital Producer will curate and create digital content, train team members, and explore new technologies to improve workflows and analytics.

Qualifications

BA/BS in journalism or related field; online publishing experience preferred.
Experience writing for print using AP style.
Experience producing video and audio for the web.
Strong journalism ethics and understanding of professional journalism standards.

Responsibilities

Lead digital news gathering and distribution across platforms.
Rewrite releases from law enforcement, government agencies, non-profits, and others.
Review and help improve locally produced content with the news department.
Create content for web, social, and app platforms to engage audiences.
Develop new workflows and embrace evolving digital strategies and ideas.
Assist in training other team members in best practices and strategies.
Experiment with new technologies to refine workflows and processes.
