Nexstar Media Group, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a digital reporter or producer for NewsNation to create stories that matter, clip videos, write headlines, and publish across digital platforms.

This 3-month, full-time temporary role starts early and runs roughly 4:30 am–12:30 pm in our Chicago newsroom. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in news, strong news judgment, video and social media experience, and excellent written and oral communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working in news as a digital reporter or producer.
• Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal.
• Experience working with video and social media.
• Excellent communicator, both oral and written.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Create stories that maintain high journalism standards and differentiate the brand.
• Clip videos to help viewers understand what matters in news stories.
• Craft headlines, push alerts and social posts for national audiences.
• Edit wire and local network content for national audience quality and integrity.
• Showcase broadcast segments for publishing across digital platforms and social media.
• Utilize SEO best practices.
